When it's getting cold outside it's easier to catch viruses which cause colds, the flu or COVID-19.

So what should you do to ejnoy snowy winter without sneezing, coughing and blowing your nose all the time?

Here are some useful tips:

--eat healthy food- you should eat a lot of vegetables and fruit, drink a lot of mineral water, choose whole grains for your sandwich. Try not to use sugar in your drinks or meals. It's also a good idea to have warm breakfasts in cold months (e.g some porridge),

-- spend some time outside - try to go for a walk every day to get some fresh air ( in a park, a forest or by the river bank),

-- keep your body fit - it's really important for your heart, bones and brain. Your heart is really busy all day long. It beats about 100.000 times a day. To keep it healthy and strong you should do excercises! You can do them in your bedroom (on the carpet) or outside (when the weather's fine). Excercising outside will help to improve your health, you'll sleep better and think faster,

-- have enough sleep (8hrs a day is ok),

-- wash your hands frequently- you will protect yourself from viruses and bacteria this way. And remember not to touch your eyes, mouth or nose when you're out.

Ok. But what if you catch an illness?

Don't panic. Stay in bed and have a rest for a couple of days. It's very important to drink a lot of liquids (e.g. lemon tea). When I was little my grandma used to give me some milk with garlic to drink. It wasn't tasty but it worked. If you've got a headache, take a painkiller. You can also take some cough syrop when it is necessary. Remember, if it's been a few days and you aren't getting better, you should see a doctor - it might be something worse than a typical cold.
